About me (in English)

Because I am getting more and more followers outside the Netherlands, I have decided to introduce myself on my blog in English as well. In the menu you can find under the heading ‘TRANSLATE’ how you can easily read my posts in your own language. Thanks for all the support!

My name is Lidewij, 28 years old. I live in a cozy apartment in the beautiful city Leiden (The Netherlands) with my best friend Rocky (cat). I graduated as a paralegal at the end of January 2021. I made my first website when I was about 13 years old. I searched for photos of the latest fashion and posted them online on my site. I soon found out that I had a passion for writing. And 15 years later I’m still on the web as the proud owner of Young Rebel.

I set up the Young Rebel website in 2016. I enjoy writing on my blog every week and sharing my stories. What started as a hobby has now grown into a beautiful website with many followers and loyal visitors. In my spare time I can often be found behind my laptop to write about my life, inner well-being, beauty and delicious recipes. What I want to show with my blog is that a “normal” life is great fun. We live in a world where we want to show everything to each other, we compare ourselves with others and we are always looking for more. People often forget that social media accounts are a brand. They live the “perfect” life and take the photos you want to see. I try to tell pure stories without fakery. You can be yourself on my blog. I hope, among other things, to show how you can live life in a different way, get more out of it and grow as a person. In order not to make my blog too heavy, I also write about my own life and of course I share delicious recipes. With this I hope to get a nice balance between relaxing and more serious subjects.

Besides writing for my website, I can also be found outdoors in nature a lot, I like to read books (thrillers), bake a lot of cakes, watch series and enjoy everything around me. Spontaneity and a little craziness from time to time makes me happy. I also think it is important not to live on automatic pilot. Live the days consciously and do something you enjoy every day. Eat something tasty every day that you can look forward to, have fun and make sure you smile every day. I enjoy people around me, but I also enjoy doing things myself, such as walks in nature. Mascara and face creams are fun, but all these things together really add beauty to my life.
